In recent years, people pay more attention on the professional development of teachers. Teachers'work in the first years of his career is a key link of the professional development. To the point of view of Sociology of Education, teachers'career begins from the role playing. And the role awareness of teachers is the key to successful role practice. Role awareness of teachers means their awareness and understanding about their own role status, role standards and role-playing. It includes not only dynamic process of understanding the role, but the static results about it. It is the important part of teachers' role growth. However, the great majority of studies about teachers'role awareness focus on how"should be", ignore what it"be". And it will be difficult to make teachers reflect and analyze their view about role, and improve their awareness of the role.In this paper, the author has targeted a number of primary school teachers in Dalian for the research. This research will investigate features of the role awareness of beginning teachers and analyze their impact factors with questionnaires and interviews. And the author has compared beginning teachers and non-beginning teachers.The author believes that the characteristics of the role awareness of beginning teachers who is in primary school can be divided into three areas. Firstly, these teachers think they had middle-recognized prestige and low economic status, and value promoters, managers, and knowledge transfers mostly. Secondly, the roles which they understand well are knowledge transfers, learners, and curriculum executors; the roles which they understand badly are collaborators, promoters, researchers, managers, and curriculum developers. Lastly, in the process of role-playing, the roles which bring teachers the greatest sense of accomplishment are knowledge transfers, learners, etc; and which bring them a great sense of frustration are researchers, curriculum developers, etc. The main factors which impact the role awareness of the beginning teachers includes the interactive objects in the work, campus culture and personal early experience. On this basis, author has given some suggestions to improve the beginning teachers'role awareness.
