The International Association of Atheletics Federations Coaches Education and Certification System has developed and matured greatly since its inception.The 5-level CECS structure formally went into effect in March of 2007.The posting training system for Chinese track and field coaches has gone through three stages.First,it was put through the testing stage between 1987 and 1990.Starting from 1991 until 1995,it was in the promotion stage.Since 1995,the system has been gradually improved and perfected.This article compares the two systems and outlines the similarities and differences.It also analyzes the effectiveness and the existing problems of each system,as well as suggests future paths of improvement.This paper researches upon the IAAF CECS and the Chinese track and field coaches posting Training system,collecting many primary sources on both systems and present the findings through referencing,comparison, contrasts,and interviews.The main findings are summarized as following:1:The CECS is an "educational" system while the Chinese Track and Field Coaches Posting Training system is a "professions" system.The philosophy behind the curriculum design is different.2:In beginner training of the CECS,there is a Kids Athletic course. The Level-2 of CECS is closest to the beginner level,as both curriculums includes basic theories,professional theories and professional applications.The main difference is that the IAAF emphasizes on professional theories and technique applications while the Chinese system favors general coaching theories and general track and field knowledge.The two systems should compensate to satisfy the actual needs of the people receiving training.3:In the training for intermediate coaches,the general frameworks of the curriculums are the same.The principle theories education are in a trend of moving from diverse subjects into specific knowlegdes.In the education of theories in specific knowledge,IAAF focuses on training of actual techniques,while China shies in this respect.However,the Chinese system has seminars and lectures on several topics of current interest,and such methods are of great importance for coaches.4:In advanced coach training,CECS and the Chinese system differ greatly in curriculum design.IAAF offers courses of "Chief Coach" and "Coaching Development Director".The IAAF Academy' s "Elite Coach" curriculum is similar to the ones in advanced Chinese Track and Field Coaching Posting Education system,but the IAAF emphasizes on the management theories and practices of advanced coaches while the Chinese system focuses on training of high-caliber athletes in specific sports. Based on the requirement for jobs of advanced-level coaches,the two systems could benefit and compensate by utilizing the advantages of the other system.
