Fencing is a tradition movement with long history and culture transcends time and space.The summarization and analysis is necessary for the fencing development in the future.That's the purpose of this paper.Use the manners of literatures,expert consulted,statistic,logic analysis to the articles and monograph presented from 1958——2005 in china,the conclusion are draw as follows:1 According the quantity of the papers and monograph in the library of Beijing sport university,Beijing national library and the list of Chinese sports journals,there are 16 books(including 10 school books) and 456 papers which concerned fencing sport.The books published early and most of them are behind the times.The first paper appeared in 1960. the content of these papers covers competitive sports,school sports and mass sports,the percent of the three main areas are 97.6%,2.2%and 0.2%.its imbalance in the distributing of the subject,major is in the athlete sports and minor in the school and mass sports.2 From the aspect of the presented time,the number waves clearly and the content distributes in imbalance,there is a little papers before 1980,most of them are the translation reference and introductions of fencing.After 1980,the number rise fluctuated,especially the percent of basic research rise largely,people have more knowledge about the fencing rules,after 1990,many papers appeared and most of them are applicable research,the number of the competitive oriented papers rise largely.after the 2000,the percent of the applicable research rise, the tidy of the multi-subject combined research were strengthened.3 From the R&D organization,there are four organizations attend in the research movement,the nation sport committee and local sports committee,the colleges and the others.The percent of the research differ from them in every phase.There are 324 papers published from 1958 to 1995,and the percent is 54%,23%,17%and 6%respectively.As it shows in the history,from 1958 to 1962,the colleges do the researches mainly in the preliminary theory foundation,and from the beginning of the 1980s when our nation fencing movements revered,nation sport committee do the most research,in 1990s,the research mainly come from the nation and the local sport committee.4 From the R&D methods,its shown that more literature reference and investigation methods were used mostly,the less with experiments and observation methods in collect information methods;in the process,the main methods is logic analysis method,it has reached 43.3%,the statistic means is only 10.9%,quality analysis were used frequently,while the percent of quantity analysis were small.More and variety methods are needed to join the fencing research.5 From the imbalance distribution of the content,the trend of the competitive-oriented research is obviously.The decisive factors in the competitive sport of athletes were focused mostly,especially in the research of athletes technical and tactical training,Include the mental training,the percent is27.8%,18.3%and 16.1%;the percentage is low in the subjects about the foundation theory,the stamina,select material, youth training,rules and the judger,physiology and biochemistry,sports physic.So the imbalance did in the single sword research,the papers about the foil is the most,reach 11.6%,the follows are epee and saber, which is 9.9%and 5.5%.
