The quality of graduate education becomes increasingly concerned, and the purpose of tutor-funding reform started in 2007 is to improve the quality of graduate education. The students and their instructors are directly related to the reform, and the relationship between them is a key factor that affects the quality of graduate education. This study focuses on the tutor-graduate relationship, as well as the influence from tutor-funding system.Firstly, this paper combed the changes of tutor-graduate relationship, to find out the main factors that affect it; Secondly, the author introduced the tutor-funding reform, came to the assumptions of this study: The tutor has three responsibilities under the tutor-funding system, which are academic instruction, life guiding and financial aid, and the relationship between the tutor and the graduate is around these three dimensions. This study did a survey to investigate the actuality of tutors'instruction, the satisfaction from doctoral students and the relationship between them. The survey results showed that: satisfaction to the tutors'instruction from doctoral students is relatively satisfied, in which satisfactions of academic and life instructions are better than that of financial aid; the three dimensions are significantly related to each other and to the tutor-graduate relationship; the tutor-graduate relationship is hardly affected by gender, changes in different grades and varies significantly with disciplines, especially in arts and engineering areas.This paper presented recommendations to improve the tutor-graduate relationship also from the three dimensions.
