Since the 90's,The process of economic globalization greatly has been accelerated. This phenomenon has enabled countries to strengthen the links,raised the degree of dependence.This requires that the modern people master geographical indication and features in other countries.The cultivation of mental maps can solve this problem. Geography is a science,which research the geographical environment and human activities and the relationship between geographical environments.Space is one of its characteristics.At present,in the geography teaching,the cultivation of mental maps of high school students is far away from satisfaction.The studies are lack of deficiencies in theory and practice.From these two aspects,this paper makes a research on the strategies of cultivating mental maps of high school students to promote geography teaching.This paper,though the research of the theory mechanism of the mental map,studies mental maps in the high school students' study of geography as a whole,development.It starts from investigating the present situation of mental maps in the high school students' learning of geography and then puts forwards the measures to help improve students' developmental level of mental maps.The thesis is divided into seven parts:The first part is an introduction.This part introduces the significance of this study, reviews the previous studies at home and abroad,and then points out the pedagogical implication.In this part,the author also introduces ways of thought and innovative points in this study.The second part introduces the definition and characteristics of the mental map of the high school students.The third part discusses the theory mechanism of the mental map.It involves learning theory,geographical teaching theory and other related theories.The mental map is armed by learning theory will enable the training become more optimization. Geographical teaching theory is the basis of mental map training.Related theories can guide the mental map training more effectively.The fourth part investigates the present situation of high school students' mental map in geography learning.The part is divided into three segments:the first segment is classroom observation to find out the blind spots of guiding teachers in the process of mental map training;the second segments is to survey the common problems in the modern high school students' mental map though questionnaire survey.This can understand their world's spatial perceptions and analyze influence factor of the mental map;the last segments is to find out find out the reason for the difference of mental map among students by case-by-case,which selected in a representative study of students.The fifth part puts forward the strategies of cultivating mental map in geography teaching.This part proposes training five stages,they are planning stage;establishment stage;developmental stage;consolidation stage and using stage.This stages are interlinked,a top-down teaching process.The sixth part is class training display.Through excellent display,the author provides the teaching experience and enriches their teaching methods.The last part is a conclusion.The part sums up the results of this study and its limitation,as well as directions for further study.
