Along with the Program for Basic Education Curriculum Reform(Draft) being published and implemented in June.2001,a new round of curriculum reform started. Meanwhile,the philosophy of "for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation,for the growth of every student" has been put forward.The philosophy of new curriculum reform makes strict demands on the professional development of teachers.Transmitting wisdom,imparting knowledge and resolving doubts are inadequate,the new curriculum also requires the teachers to be the promoters in students' subject learning,servers in students' self-learning,developers in the new curriculum and researchers in teaching.The professional development of teachers indicates the process of the professional growth. Important project,educate for;teaching project,teacher for.A contingent of high-caliber teachers is indispensable for improving the quality of education.Therefore,the professional development of teachers is of great academia and even social concern increasingly.According to the philosophy of new curriculum reform,the research on the professional development of Senior high school teachers is not only an issue related to theory,it also should be an exploration of the conditions and problems in the professional development of senior high school teachers,and then put forward some effective strategies to the discussed problems.Under the instruction of the new curriculum conception and some research results of teachers' professional development,this project summarized the relevant research and carried out an investigation in the front line of high school teaching.It revealed that plenty of difficulties and problems existed in the process of the professional development of teachers.For instance,undevelopment of the teachers' notion of education,lack of professional competence,urgently needed transition of teaching styles and further improvement of research capability,etc.In addition,it analyzed many aspects that caused many difficulties in the professional development of teachers.The objective factors,such as the overburden of teachers' education task,the closed living environment,the posteriority of teachers' education and the tendency to benefit in evaluation have influenced these problems.Moreover,the shortage of the sense of self-improvement and ability are the subjective factors.Based on the above problems and analysis,the paper put forward some effective strategies that we should reduce the heavy burdens,strengthens exchange and cooperation,reforms the teaching contents and ways,establish a proper evaluating system,strengthen the self-development ability. Following these,senior high school teachers can promote professional development.
