21st century ,humanity has entered the highly civilized era.As the global expansion of information,knownledge and network,humanity come to a new social form,information society.Information as an another important resource after land,capital and energy,gradually changes the survival way of humanity and affects the development process of human history. Information social system is based on information knowledge and information is the most active and decisive factor in the social system.Reports from American education technology CEO forum in 2001 clearly included information literacy as one of the fundamental abilities thatPeople should possess in 21^stcentury.Further more,the international information literacy and life-long learning seminars held in Alexandria City of Egypt in 2005,proposed the information literacy as the core of life-long learning.Information literacy has become the fundamental viability of the members of the society and it is also the necessary quality of life-long learning in learning society.National information literacy affects the core of national competitiviness.It determines the fate of the nation'sFuture.Thus ,the comprehensive quality of talents has been demanded a higher standard,contemporary college students in this huge talent are bound to cultivating information literacy as a necessary process of personal quality cultivating that in order to adapt the information environment and become the pillars of the community.This article starts from the importance and necessity of college students'information literacy cultivating, base on information literacy investigating and summarizing of the current college students, depth analysises the status quo and causes of the college students'information literacy,base on the actual conditions , builds a learning society as the goal ,learns from the foreign experience ,proposes the corresponding solutions.
