In 1990, the World Conference on Education for All was held in Thailand. Since that international conference, the Education for All has become a main education goal for a majority of nations in the world. Brazil, a developing country with a large population, has focused on the development of basic education after the World War II. The basic education of Brazil has obtained a more rapid development after 1990. A research on basic education of Brazil, a developing country, can help us understand the development of our country that is at a similar developing stage of basic education. Such a research can also deepen our understanding of basic education in our country, and then we can avoid making the same mistakes.This thesis is divided into six parts: The context of the research and the research methods are narrated in the first chapter thesis. Chapter 2 provides an overview of the development process of education in Brazil. Chapter 3 focuses on the Brazilian system of basic education development and reform. Chapter 4 analyzes the development of education in Brazil and the various problems in education. Chapter 5 deals with all kinds of measures that Brazil has taken in its education field. Chapter 6 compares basic education in China and Brazil and analyses what we can learn.
