With the arrival of the era of lifelong education, it turns to be an essential requirement of building a university town which provides lifelong education service for people from different careers. Anyone has access to educational resources to update their professional knowledge and vocational skills at any time and any place with timely, effective, flexible and a variety of educational services. Therefore further improve the quality of spiritual life. Under such background Shanghai public service platform for lifelong education came into being. It is composed of lifelong education resource library, lifelong education network portal, lifelong education network access system and support services system, aiming to provide city dwellers with lifelong learning opportunities.The paper explores ways to build a variety of learning modes, with which learners can take full advantage of the rich, multi-level and different types of lifelong educational resources, through various channels accessing to learning portals at any time and any place, using the virtual classroom platform, network software, online community and supportive modules, finally achieving personalized and efficient learning. The constructing of learning modes is of great significance both to the promotion and application of the service platform and learners' effective learning.Primarily through analysis, synthesis, interviews and practical action research, the paper starts a research on learning platform at home and abroad, related theories of learning and other research findings. And based on the practical functions of Shanghai public service platform for lifelong education, it builds several models to effectively guide the learners to acquire knowledge, further update professional knowledge and vocational skills and improve learning ability. Ultimately realize the goal of lifelong learning.The thesis is divided into six chapters to introduce the study process and results including introduction, overview about public service platform for digital education, theories of learning, learning modes, experimental study and conclusion.Chapter I introduces the research background, purposes and the significance. After analyzing the status of related studies, it settled the basic questions about main content and research methods.Chapter II outlines the public service platform for digital education. It gives a description of the features of different platform. Chapter III is the theoretical basis of the paper. It discusses about learning theories, such as lifelong learning theory, constructivist learning theory and humanistic learning theory. It makes a distinction between mode and learning mode, and comes to a conclusion about factors must be taken into account while building a learning mode.Chapter IV is the core of the paper. It gives a step by step procedure on how to build a mode, including learning procedure, learning framework, and learning support.Chapter V is about how to carry out the experimental study.Chapter VI summarizes the main course of the paper and describes remaining problems waiting to be further studied.
