Breaking through the barriers of industrialized society, the development of our society hasentered the information era. In such era that technical knowledge is enhanced and the updating ofknowledge is increasingly accelerated. It is clearly inadequate that people have still learned toadapt to social development through traditional means. However, the closed and narrowparadigm of traditional education has been unable to include the entire context of learning anddevelopment today. So it is bound by a "Copernican" real change to open up a new territory. Thischange is based on such a mode of thinking that the concept of lifelong learning has been widelyaccepted. Under the guidance of lifelong learning theory, learning space will be inclusive of allpossible forms, and learning will become a continuum throughout the life of the various stages ofdevelopment. In order to maintain the various stages of development and learning change in theway of the development process, people can not do without the support of the learning capacity,more specifically, the support of lifelong learning capacity. It has become an important issue thathow to use the convenient advantage of modern information technology to develop and improvethe life-long learning capacity. This thesis is based on this attempt.Educational virtual community is the use of modern information technology to build a newspace for learning. It is a more important wing of the entire education system, and of courseanother is traditional physical education. Expanding learning through educational virtualcommunities, learners can try new ways of learning with a variety of cognitive tools andinteraction. This process can enhance their lifelong learning through the depth of the learningexperience. The role of educational virtual communities in the promotion of learning isbecoming increasingly apparent. However, how to design educational virtual communitieseffectively and how to design operability of the learning activities based on the educationalvirtual communities are still a difficulty. Also it is the subject of a challenge that how to combinethe rich potential educational virtual communities with life-long learning capacity which peopleare increasingly concerned about to expand the integration of research. And we can predict thatthis issue has a wealth of theoretical value and clear practical significance.This thesis focuses on the integration of educational virtual community and lifelonglearning capacity. And it explores strategies and methods that can improve learners’ life-longlearning through the analysis of educational virtual communities. As for research methods, itemploys theory construction and empirical method. The specific process is below. Firstly, thisthesis conducts a comprehensive review of educational virtual community and lifelong learning. Secondly, the author conducts a comprehensive analytical summary of educational virtualcommunities and abstracts the nature meaning of lifelong learning capacity. And then, builds atheoretical model and level tower of lifelong learning of educational virtual communityaccording to the activity theory and further reveals the inherent law that can develop learners’lifelong learning capacity. For the empirical part, the author conducts a field survey ofEducational Technology undergraduate students which participated in the educational virtualcommunity of learning science and learning technology. Lastly, the author raises some strategiesthat can enhance learners’ lifelong learning capacity through educational virtual communitylearning and verifies them through specific cases.
