Education's basic function is to promote individual and social development,through educational activities in fostering individuals.Therefore,fostering individuals is its basic function.The principal part of association in uinversities is teacher and student just as any other schools.What the teacher instructs is conveyed and affects the students by means of teacher-student association;Whether they can associate harmoniously and easily influences and restricts teachers' quality and rate of education and instruction to a large extent.So to teachers,teacher-student association is more than social and work association,more importantly,it is educational association.In order to know the status quo of teacher-stuudent association in universities,find the problems,discuss the causes,improve the quality of education and instruction,enrich education's basic function better,and ultimately foster excellent special talents,we have a questionaire investigation on the status quo of teacher-student association and analyze its results.This research chooses 960 undergraduates and masters in Southwest University,Chongqing University,South China Normal University and South China University of Technology as its subjects,the results show as follows:Firstly,they associate simply,seldom associate out of class and what they associate is restricted in study;Secondly,undergraduate students tend to associate with teachers face to face even in this internet world;Thirdly,more postgraduates than undergraduates are influenced by teachers in doing research,more undergraduates than postgraduates are influenced by teachers in learning new knowledge and doing sundries;Fourthly,the higher students'educational level is,the more they intend to associate with the learned teachers;Fifthly,students rate knowledge impact as the most important quality of association.In teachers'questionaires,we have 30 teachers,including teachers of undergraduates and the doctors who were once teachers of undergraduates as subjects,the results show as follows: Firstly,the purpose of association is mainly studies,male teachers tend to associate with students by telephoning and talking face to face,while female teachers telephoning and chatting through internet out of class;Secondly,teachers think what students want most are diplomats and good jobs,as for recommendation of opportunities of study practice and employment,50%of the seniors think it is discussed by teachers and students,and 46.7%of the teachers think it is a fair competition in most cases.Thirdly,93%of the teachers think that class teaching is done mainly by instructing,and they have significant influence on students in conveying knowledge and learning to be a man,more undergraduates than teachers think they are influencd by teachers in doing scientific research and adjusting philosophy;Fourthly,more teachers than undergraduates think students tend to associate with learned and humorous teachers,senior students tend to associate with humorous teachers,while junior ones with imperatorial teachers;Fifthly,more teachers than students think that teachers like capable and honest students and those who do well in their studies and have the gift of gab,while more students than teachers think that teachers tend to associate with cute and persuasible students;Sixthly,more teachers than students think what students want to get most are exquisite skills,diplomats and good jobs through study and research,there are many more seniors than juniors,sophomores and freshmen think what they want to get most are good jobs.University teachers think students'purpose of study and research is to find a good job,promote their social status and teacher-student association content is mainly the study in class and knowledge impact,which makes their means of association restricted within class of teacher-oriented instructions and their association after class lacked.This research analyzes and discusses it and puts forwards some corresponding solutions from the aspects of teachers and students.The innovation of this research is that it is the first time that we have studied the association means and purposes of university teachers and students by means of demonstration.From the exterior forms of teacher-student association,it explores the deeper purpose of association from behind the behaviors,by analyzing the deeper causes,it puts forward some feasible suggestions and solutions,as a result,it provides theoritical and practical proofs to harmonize the relationship between teachers and students better and improve the education and instructon quality.
