Objective:The daily secretion change of saliva dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate(DHEA-S) and testosterone(T),and the change of the above indexes and serum insulin-link growth factor binding protein-3(IGFBP-3) under different swimming training condition were observed to research the possibility of application of these indexes in functional monitoring of swimmers.Method:National master and first class swimmers were selected as subjects.Saliva/serum DHEA-S and T were detected to observed the daily secretion change of saliva DHEA-S and T,and the correlations between these saliva indexes and the relative serum indexes respectively. Saliva/serum DHEA-S and T,and serum IGFBP-3 were detected pre and post a bout of great quantity training,a bout of high intensity training, 12 days of great quantity training and 6 days of adjust training,6 days of high intensity training and 6 days of adjust training respectively. Two-related-sample tests in nonparametric tests was used to analyse the changes of the data.Spearman correlation analysis was used to analyse the correlation of the data.Linear regression equation was used to indicate relation between saliva DHEA-S and serum DHEA-S,saliva T and serum T respectively.Result:(1) For saliva DHEA-S,the peak value was appeared at 7:00-7:30, the bottom value was appeared at 18:20-18:40,and the sub-peak value was appeared at 14:10-14:30 in both genders.Besides these 3 time points, there were no significant differences in the other time points.Positive correlations were found between serum DHEA-S and saliva DHEA-S,serum T and saliva T,serum DHEA-S and serum T,saliva DHEA-S and saliva T, respectively in both genders.(2) After a bout of great quantity training, saliva DHEA-S and saliva T decreased significantly in both genders,serum DHEA-S in females decreased significantly,serum IGFBP-3 decreased significantly in both genders.A negative correlation was found between serum IGFBP-3 and serum cortisol(C) in both genders.(3) After a bout of high intensity training,salivaDHEA-S increased significantly in the second morning and a negative correlation was found between serum IGFBP-3 and creatine kinase(CK) in males.(4) After 12 days of great quantity training,serum DHEA-S decreased significantly,and remained in lower level after 6 days of adjust training,serum IGFBP-3 decreased significantly in females.A positive correlation was found between serum IGFBP-3 and serum DHEA-S in females.Negative correlations between serum IGFBP-3 and the score of SFMS questionnaire,between serum IGFBP-3 and serum C,were found in males respectively.(5) After 6days of high intensity training,serum IGFBP-3 decreased significantly,a positive correlation was found between serum IGFBP-3 and serum DHEA-S,a negative correlation was found between serum IGFBP-3 and the score of SFMS questionnaire,in males.Conclusion:The results showed that serum IGFBP-3 might be useful to monitoring the fatigue of swimmers.The decline of serum IGFBP-3 indicated fatigue or overtraining in swimmers.Serum DHEA-S might be more suitable than serum T to monitor the function in female swimmers.In some situation.saliva DHEA-S and T can Monotoring the Swimmer' s Function.
