The Research Of School Motto By Comparing The Chinese And Western Famous University

Famous university refers to the larger scale, high academic level and social awareness. School motto is the precipitation of cultural tradition and school-running conception about a university, the school motto, can directly indicate the core of the soul and property of a university. Comparing the school motto's similarities and differences of, is a key to research the culture and character of Chinese and Western university, which is an important part of high education, and has great significance to enrich education theory. Regarding the culture construction of school motto, is very important to promote the university spirit and create a world class university. Based on consulting the history and the relevant date of some universities, author researched the school motto's development of Chinese and Western famous university from four parts: development history , classification, spring and embodiment of the school-running conception. The ways to founding and optimizing the school motto had been shown in the text. In the author's opinions, the good school motto must be steady, deep-seated and implicative, which can embody the school-running conception, indicate the university character, show the university spirit. We gave two suggestions to optimize the school motto: constituting characteristic school motto and establishing several ways to exert the function of school motto.
