Under the international background of the global economic competition,the consciousness of the main body and the cultural consciousness of the university in our country have been enhanced.The competition between colleges and universities is mainly on the competition of its soft power,mainly in the aspect of university culture.All colleges and universities have begun to pay attention to the construction of university culture and university spirit remodeling,and motto is an indispensable part of university spirit,is the core of school running concept,is the focus of educational goals and educational principles,it forms a university's own characteristics and mission,the implied value of keeping pace with the times concept and educational concept,is the inheritance and development of historical and cultural traditions of the university,is a concentrated expression of the spirit of the university,plays an important role in the construction of the university spirit and educational practice.The author through field research found that university motto is not widely recognized and paid attention to university teachers and university students and managers,and did not give full play to its function.Therefore,the research on university motto cognitive status and practice is particularly important,in order to through this research to provide suggestions and strategies for the practice of university motto in domestic universities,especially in Shandong Province,and to give full play to the function of university motto.Based on the review of relevant literature,this paper discusses the connotation,characteristics,functions and methods of university motto as a theoretical basis for this study;and through questionnaires and interviews in the form of 20 colleges and universities in Shandong Province,university students,university teachers and managers,to understand their universities and colleges in the cognition of university motto and school motto practice situation,from which to find the problems and explore the reasons,and then put forward the practice of university motto strategy.Through the field investigation,it is found that the problems in the practice of university motto mainly includes the motto of the publicity is not in place,exploring the connotation of the school motto is not in-depth,thefunction and value of knowledge is not in place,for how to play the function of the school motto,did not find the effective way.Investigate its reason,the author thought that the main reason is that the school leaders pay less attention to the school motto,student knowledge reserve insufficiency,the motto of practice and teaching practice to separate,and lack of the realization path of exploration on the function of motto.In view of this,this paper attempts to put forward the strategy of the practice of university motto from the four aspects of understanding the motto,identifying motto,internalizing motto,practicing motto,in order to provide some reference for the practice of university motto in domestic universities,especially in Shandong Province,and to give full play to the function of university motto.
