The Research On The Rural Elderly Affected By AIDS

The rural elderly affected by AIDS is a special difficult group which has appeared in the beginning of this century.But they are the indirect victims of "Blood economy" in 1990s,their family are AIDS or infected HIV which makes their lives difficult.At present,the governments take great efforts to prevent AIDS and give much care for the AIDS and people infected HIV,but the elderly affected by AIDS has not entered the policymakers'view.In order to provide some help for old people and improve their lives, the present research has tried some social work practice.This thesis includes five parts mainly.Partâ… is an introduction to the research, involving the cause of the research,its purpose and meaning,its methods and some main concepts referred.Partâ…¡is an investigation analysis to the life situation of the elderly affected by AIDS.It analyzes the difficulties and problems that the elderly has encountered,and also assesses the causes of the problems,the old people's need and their social surroundings.Partâ…¢introduces two cases in detail.We have done some statistical analysis to the elderly affected by AIDS;meanwhile we have interviewed some people. By introducing several cases we hope to demonstrate fully the characteristic of old people in health,financial supplies,spiritual careness,labor burden and generationship. Partâ…£is about the helpful practice that researchers have done.After understanding the serviced objects' situation,we have taken some measures as social workers so as to help them indeed.These activities were carried out by community work,social administration, and we also cooperated with "Warm Homestead".As a result,our interventions brought about some effects to some extent.The last part is the research conclusion and our reflection.Our work time was short,our work had much deficiency and didn't give the elderly much welfare either.So the elderly affected by AIDS need the experts and workers' attention in Social Work field,we could promote the social work for the special problem rural people.
