On Soft Power Cultivation Of College Students

"Soft power" as a term or a concept has been drawing wide attention in recent years and has been introduced into diverse fields of research.From the perspective of education,"soft power",along with its counterpart,"hard power" constitutes the core competitive power of the talents and has been playing more and more important role.The 21st century witnesses a period of information and knowledge technology,and more importantly,harsher competition in all fields.Thus "soft power" of college students has become an indispensable factor to realize their personal value and serve the society.However,nowadays,many college students pay much attention to obtaining "hard power" such as degree,skills,certificates,etc. and ignore the cultivation of "soft power",which can be shown from their low lever of professional ethics,poor communicative skills,weak credibility,lack of innovative power and team spirit,etc. Therefore,it is undoubtedly meaningful to launch a research on the current situation of the college students as well as on how to develop their "soft power".This thesis first of all defines the basic concept of "soft power" of college students and combs the research background,upon which,it does empirical research on the current "soft power" of college students by carrying out survey studies.The survey questionnaire is considering mainly 6 aspects: morality,professional ethics,communicative competence,credibility,innovation and team spirit.And from sampling on different groups of college students,the survey has successfully reached the aim of investigation.A careful analysis of the survey results shows that there are six major problems and four unfavorable factors concerning the "soft power" of college students.The thesis thus suggests four methods to promote students' "soft power".The whole paper launched a practical and relatively deep research on the "soft power" of college students by defining the basic concepts,making investigation on the current situation,finding out the problems and finally suggesting the possible solutions...
