With the flourishing development of the higher vocational colleges, many defects in physical education teaching are explosed at the same time, which demands the reform in the P.E teaching in the higher vocational colleges. Furthermore, the research and the reform of the P.E teaching models is the most important of all.This paper refers to some domestic and overseas articles of the famous persons and the P.E teaching models of the higher colleges and universities and the higher vocational colleges in some developed cities. Then it concentrates on the survey and analysis of the present conditions in the higher vocational colleges of JiLin Province by means of investigation of documents, interviewing experts, questionnaire, mathematical statistics or logical analysis and so on . After the analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the old P.E teaching models , the author realizes the present models of P.E teaching in the higher vocational colleges of JiLin Province can't adapt to the development of the higher vocational sports education yet. The higher vocational education belongs to the employment education .The graduates from the higher vocational colleges will be the senior technical workers in the future , so they must have qualified physical quality and excellent professional skills . Therefore, the P.E teaching should serve their professions and their life-long education. So the author attempts to reserarch the P.E teaching models in the higher vocational colleges of JiLin Province, which is a four-period model with higher vocational characteristics. It divides the periods of the P.E teaching in the higher vocational colleges into four semesters and formulates the guiding ideology , the teaching aims , the teaching contents , the teaching methods and the evaluation in each semester, showing the difference between the higher vocational education and the higher college education. This model may be used in the vocational colleges of JiLin Province, which may also serve as reference in other provinces.
