Research On Social Development Of The Rural Left-behind Preschoolers

With the swift expansion of modernization,the surplus labour force in China's rural areas has shifted to cities in large scale,but their children are still left in their hometown because of reasons.The issue of the rural left-behind children has caused wide public concern.Existing studies on the rural left-behind children almost focus on the school children.But few studies focus on the preschoolers aged from 3 to 6.In consideration of the significance of the prechool period in a whole life and the crucial respect of the social development,this study mainly research for social development of the rural left-behind preschoolers.This study adopt methods of quantitative analysis as well as qualitative analysis. Firstly,the researcher investigate the rural left-behind preschoolers in L county of Fu Yang city and X county of HuangShan city.The result is that the number of the rural left-behind preschoolers in L county of Fu Yang city is much larger.It accounts for 68.9% of the whole children in this area.Their living conditions are not optimistic.Secondly,the researcher adopte social development scale of children aged from 4 to 7,edited by Chenhuichang of Beijing Normal University,to invesitage and analyze their social development.The study invesitage 135 rural preschoolers in this county,including 91 rural left-behind preschoolers.At the same time,the researcher observe individual left-behind preschoolers and interview their guardians and teachers.The results show as follows:Compared with the norm,social development of the rural left-behind preschoolers shows statistically below normal distribution.Compared with the rural non-left-behind preschoolers,the scores of the rural left-behind preschoolers are lower on dimensions of attachment to family,fellowship, aggressiveness,independence,fairness and honesty,sympathy,self-esteem,the differences between them are significant(p<0.05).Compared among the rural left-behind preschoolers,the results show as follows:The gender differences are significant on the dimension of self-concept(p<0.05);The differences between aged 5 and 6 are significant on the dimension of introversion and extroversion(p<0.05);Between different ways of left-behind,the differences are significant on dimensions of attachment to family,aggressiveness,fairness and honesty,sympathy,self-concept(p<0.05).Between different periods of left-behind,the differences are significant on dimensions of will,stability of emotion,independence, self-concept(p<0.05).Lastly,on the basis of knowing the characteristic of the rural left-behind preschoolers'social development,the researcher analyz the influencial factors,and then put forward some reasonable propsitions to promot the rural left-behind preschooler'social development...
