Studies On The Current Situation And The Strategies Of Popularization Of Orienteering In The Advanced Vocational Colleges Of Zhejiang Province

Orienteering , as a new sports option in China, has been introduced into the vocational colleges since the reform of the PE curriculum based on the belief of "Health comes firest". To popularize this sport in the vocational schools obviously meets the need of the development of society.It needs both intelligence and physical strength to do well in the game. So taking part in the game not only help to build up the students' body , develop the ability to analysise but also help to culture the ability to subsist, compete and cooperate.This essay probes the origin of the sport , explains important concepts and depicts the funtion of the sport. Guided by the theory of the life—long PE education, this essay applies the methods of finding the documents, inspection on the sport, general survey,comprehensive analysise and etc.Based on the study of 40 teachers and 1000 students in the 20 vocational colleges ,this essay analyses the current situation of Orienteering education and the problems of setting up this new course . It also gives some suggestion to solve the problems lie in setting the course.Study shows:(1)The new course in the vocational colleges develops well in Zhejiang provinces. Normally, it will be an elective course or public elective course. There's no school now offers it as a required course.(2)The teaching objective, contents and apppraisal of the course of the vocational colleges surveyed are almost the same. There is no standard teaching materials suitable to vocational colleges right now.(3)The groud and equipment needed for this sport of the vocational colleges are deficient.(4) Attaching little attention to the sport by the school leaders and lacking experienced teachers are the tow main factors that limits the popularization of the sport. Lacking of groud, equiment and money comes the next.(5)Most of the teachers in the vocational colleges of Zhejiang province lack experience in teaching this game. But they are willing to learn and have full confidence in the popularization of this sport.(6)The students in the vocational colleges have little knowledge of this new sport and are lacking experince in taking part in this new game. But more then 80% of the students are willing to engage in this game, and believe that this sport can help to develop ability of themselves.Developing strategy:(1)Persuade the leaders of the school to attach more importance and give more support to this course .(2)Refine the teaching form, contents , objectives and system of this course. (3)Renew the appraisal conception. Standandize the appraisal system.(4)Improve the teaching skills of the teachers through training. Give move atteation to the development of the sport of different levels of PE schools. Train more specialized teachers.(5)Construct more ground and increase more equipment.(6)Make known the new sport. Develop the learning interest. Help the students to understand more about the game and take part in the game initiatidely and positively.
