Guizhou Province Ordinary University Orienteering Training Present Situation Investigation And Study

Orienteering is a sport with special training methods and means whichcame from Hong Kong to China in1979. In2004， China established the largestOrienteering organization--Orienteering Association of China which organizesmore than100games every year.Orienteering training get developed rapidly inmany developed countries and colleges and universities.The races also increasesgradually.Although it is less popular than track and field and ball games，it stilldevelops more quickly when compared with Chinese tennis and Frisbee or othersports.Western cities develop orienteering with the development.Thegeographical conditions of western cities are very advantages.Organizingorienteering training not only exercise all qualities of students，but also canfoster a sense of determination，make students strong-minded，and be not afraidof hardships.Apart from these，it can solve the problem that today’s students getmissed outside due to losing their directions.Nowadays，the colleges anduniversities who have relatively good orienteering training are as follows:TianjinUniversity of Finance Economics， Hunan University， Harbin University，Inner Mongolia University， Zhaoqing University， Guangdong.And collegesand universities with orienteering training in western cities are more andmore.There are eight college and universities in Guizhou Province having orienteering training.In the year of2006，Guizhou held the Frist Universiade andeight colleges and universities， Guizhou University， Guizhou Institute forNationalities， Guiyang Medical University， Guiyang University， ZunyiMedical College， Guiyang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine， GuiyangZunyi Medical College， Guiyang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine，Guiyang College of finance， Tongren University， took part in thecompetition.However，from2007to2011，the teams of orienteering in Guizhou’scolleges and universities were less and less from year to year while their gradesdeclined.Almost all colleges and universities stop orienteering except GuizhouUniversity and Zunyi Medical College.In view of existing situation， this essay used documentation method，questionnaire，Delphi technique，statistics and science to study the presentsituation of orienteering training in eight Guizhou colleges and universities andfind the constraints that affect the orienteering in Guizhou’s colleges anduniversities.With the hope of putting forward some useful solutions tostrengthen the orienteering training in Guizhou Province and improve theperformance so that we can come out in front in all western colleges anduniversities.Results of research show follows:There is no orienteering organization or institution in GuizhouProvince.The propagandist strength of orienteering is limited.The leaders ofadministration in Guizhou colleges and universities’ competition don’t attach enough importance to orienteering.The sum of money which is injected and usedcannot meet the requirements of training.And all the equipments cannot meet theneed of training，either.Besides，some coaches are not professional enoughwhich may lead to the methods，the reps and the time that cannot satisfy thestudents’ training.So the professional competence of coaches have to beimproved.But the most difficult question is the selection of athletes.Most of theathletes are selected from those who have no base on orienteering.And thiscauses the performance cannot get improved effectively.Last but not least，themanagement of athletes is not good enough.There is a phenomenon that athletesare not subject to the management of team.
