The Research Of Representation Strategy On Mathematics Word Problem Solving

Discovery of mathematics origin from problem, problem is the heart of mathematics. The research of solving problem in China is very characteristic in the world, which has formed a kind of Sinitic phenomena. We have many experts in the domain of solving mathematics problem and many journals about mathematics education have a column of research in mathematics solving. These columns have provided many mathematics teachers with a stage of communion. When read earnestly, however, we may find that the contents of these columns deal with mostly simply display of skill to mathematics problem solving. These steps can make them progress in their study in a short time. But the shortage of this step lies in teachers never looking upon students as main body. The students' ability of putting a question to the teacher is in some degree weak. The ability that utilizes mathematics knowledge to solve problem from practice is one of mathematics abilities. But we find that most students are short of these abilities, some students are short of thinking of applications. They are so afraid that they never research into when glimpse at mathematics word problems. So where does the mathematics word problem difficult in? We imitate others neither in mathematics problem solving nor skill exercitation mechanically. The research on problem solving neither localizes, at the same time, revelation of skills on problem solving nor presenting the techniques simply. The research on problem solving should be exalted to mathematics idea and mathematics methodology. This dissertation will choose problem representation of mathematics problem solving because mainly the elaborate describing of mathematics problem solving is in some degree blank.What this dissertation research lies in some aspects thereinafter:(1) The research on strategy of problem solving, which how to change the form of original problem and bring it into individual knowledge structure.(2) This dissertation will research on how to solve mathematics word problem based dimension of Cognitive Psychology, we'll stress the difficult and difference existed in problem representation. We'll analyse and classify the wrong existed in solving mathematics word problem.(3) We'll do experiment to explore the problem representation mode and strategy on mathematics word problem solving, two solving strategies will be concerned: the direct translation strategy and problem model strategy. We'll draw a conclusion that the illogical problem representation is one of the obstacles of resolving mathematics word problem correctly.(4) At last, we'll propose some advices based experiment to improve the teaching of mathematics word problems.
