For devoting effort to promoting education all-around development at the present time, the humanistic quality education for university student becomes the studies of international grand issues. The humanistic quality of university teachers is a critical factor to improve the students' humanistic quality. It is difficult to cultivate students with good humanistic quality and construct atmosphere of humanistic spirit in university and community if there is no university teachers with excellent humanistic quality. On the other hand, the life-long education and continuing education have been recognized and accepted by more and more people, and they reached a broad consensus. As the leaders in the field of education and knowledge, increasing importance is attached to the improvement of the university teacher's humanistic quality in academic world from the perspective of continuing education, and some investigation and trying are carrying out on it.According to the conception of the humanistic quality and intellectuals and the contemporary background of the times and demand, this thesis stressed the importance of enhancing the humanistic quality of teachers in univeisitys and universities. From a historical perspective, the author gives emphasize to introducing and describing two historic models who perfectly keep the combining humanistic quality and scientific literacy performance. And then in the context of the times, the author indicates the problem of the loss of humanistic quality of the university teachers and analyses the reasons for it. Basing on that reflective thinking of the background, the thesis brings up more effective recommendations to enhance humanistic quality for teachers in univeisitys and universities.This thesis includes five chapters: the introduction; the relationship between humanistic quality and university teachers and intellectuals; humanistic tradition of university teachers in china and the west; the present situation introduction of humanistic quality of university teachers and the analysis of the reasons for the loss; a suggestion for how to promote humanistic quality of university teachers.Firstly, the author discusses and summarizes the origin of the research topic and the research status of humanistic quality education at the present in the chapter of introduction, indicating the innovation and the research methods of the thesis. In the second chapter, the humanistic quality and the related concept are analyzed and confirmed. For the further, the thesis discusses the origins of the humanistic intellectual, the relation between university teachers. Chapter 3 reviews and discriminates the humanistic tradition of university teachers in china and the west. Chapter 4 consists mainly of the research on the status of the contemporary university teachers' humanistic quality, as well as the reason of its loss. Finally, Chapter 5 provides from different perspectives the corresponding suggestions for university teachers on how to structure the good humanistic qualities.
