In wake of globalization, the problem of "what should be taught" has increasingly become the most urgent issue should be faced in the curriculum educational reform of every country. In the cross-cultural exchange and the multi-cultural trend of the globalization, for a special mean of communication and inheritance and development of the outstanding human heritage, Chinese plays an important role in the training a qualified cultural man. What culture content be choose and transmitted, especially what's exotic world that Chinese textbook show, will inevitably affect the students' attitude and understanding of each nation or even the improvement of individual spirit. In terms of this meaning, the study of senior school Chinese textbook from the image of comparative literature has great realistic significance in the expansion perspective of teaching reform in our country.In the study, five sets of senior Chinese textbook are selected as the research object. Under the framework of course sociology and politics, implement the means of content analysis, case study and comparative study, using the theories of communication science, course sociology and international relation, the study research the changes of the other image in the senior Chinese textbook. During the research, it is always focuses on the main line of the other image that textbook show and its causes.The main content of the study is as follows:The first chapter is the vertical analysis of the total 170 texts in the senior Chinese textbook published from 1982 to 2004. These studies include the number of pieces, themes, styles as well as national trends and values, so that the changes of the other image during the different times are shown.The second chapter bases on the frequency that country shown in the textbook during this period, American, Japan, England, France and Russia are select as the study object to reveal the similarities and differences that shown on the textbook. These are mainly used the difference interpretation of the same textbook in the teacher's reference book during the different times, also, the changes of number of texts that show the other image in the different periods.The third chapter reveals the reasons why the other image changed in the senior Chinese textbook. The study shows that it is decided by the subjective choice, national relationship in the cross-cultural communication as well as the attribute of the Chinese textbook.Base on the analysis the fourth chapter put forward some constructive suggestions on the selection of text-materials of senior Chinese textbook and the Chinese reading teaching.The followed conclusions were obtained from the study:The number of text that shows the other image has increasing; the topic trends to diversify; the genre were most argumentative writings, narrative writings and expository writings before, but now it is diversified and more prose writings are introduced; the national tendency is changed from Soviet Russian to America; the value orientation is changed from negative to more objective attitude. By case analysis, the number of text related to American increased dramatically, also become more positive image than before. At the same time, texts related to Japan was a sharp decline, and its image was toward to diversification but not just a single image of the devil. Also, the texts related to Russian were downward, its image become more objective than before positive image as a socialist country and the proletarian revolutionists. About United Kingdom, in 1990s, there was little text associate with this country, but in the new century, it have somewhat increase, and the image shift from negative to positive. Text related France did not change significantly in the 19080s and 1990s, but like United Kingdom, it also have some increase, the image of the new century is shown positive by life aesthetics.
