Chinese culture is the only remaining culture without interruption in the world. Through the long years' accumulation, some classical images have been carrying cultural psychology with Chinese national characteristics, which are worthy of an in-depth study. In the history of literary works, there exist incalculable examples that authors use images to express their subjective emotion, among which plant images are very important. Plant images are those images stamped with authors' emotion and thoughts. Therefore, analyzing plant images as an entry point is an important way to interpret the textbooks.This thesis will analyze the PEP edition of Chinese textbook for senior, which includes a large amount of plant images. The thesis systematically classifies the plant images in the textbook and sums up the three plant images with highest frequency with the method of induction and statistics:"bamboo", "willow" and "lotus". The thesis puts these three kinds of images as typical images and analyzes them to make an integration of all the typical plant images scattering in the textbooks. In addition, while analyzing, the author adapts the interdisciplinary research method, as well as the theory and method of literature and botany to conduct a comprehensive research.This thesis is based on the textbook without the limitation of it. And it expands the three kinds of typical plant images to the history of Chinese literature to find out more illustrations in the works to demonstrate the basic connotations that are evident and widely accepted. The thesis also analyzes the method of image teaching in stages to provide helpful strategies for Chinese educators and to help students with distinguishing images and interpreting them so as to improve their ability of text interpreting and writing. Also the thesis introduces some experience of compilation of textbooks. At the same time, senior high school students are in a vital stage of forming their outlook on life, world and value, so the analysis of the plant images in textbooks can help lead students to look into the traditional culture and to benefit the influence of it.
