There exist many interactive behaviors between teachers and students in the educational activities. In the modern teaching theories, teaching process is regarded as a kind of communication, interaction and development between teachers and students. Constructing interactive teacher-student relationship is one of the most important missions of the teaching reform. In the recent years, more and more researches on teacher's knowledge indicate that the communications between teachers and students affect students' learning opportunities and learning quality. Besides, there are many differences between expert teachers and non-expert teachers in the process of interaction with their students.Teacher-student interaction is represented by a series of teachers and students' behaviors which can be divided into verbal behaviors and non-verbal behaviors. The literature review shows that many relevant researchers confine their observation to verbal behaviors in order to operate conveniently. The research objects of this study are expert teacher and non-expert teacher with the same teaching contents in the same school. The research methods used in this paper are participatory classroom observation, interview, and teaching video and documents analysis.Firstly, on the basis of data collection, the numbers and percentages of teachers and students' verbal behaviors is counted. Secondly, the paper analyzes some behaviors with different functions and meanings in the concrete teaching situation. Lastly, the author concludes that there are three features of teacher-student interaction of the two teachers: (1) The interactive pattern of non-expert teacher is mainly I-R or I-R-E mode. That of expert teacher is interactive teaching. (2) The roles of non-expert teacher in the teaching process are initiator and monitor. Those of expert teacher are promoter and guide. (3) Students participate in interaction by listening and answering in the classes of non-expert teacher, while in the expert teacher classes thinking and inquiring is the major approaches.At last, the paper discusses the reasons of the different teacher-student interaction among different teachers and tries to give some suggestions from some perspectives to improve teacher-student interaction.
