| The problem of Junior middle school students' dropping out of school during the period of compulsory education is worldwide, which is widely focused on by many countries in the world. At present, the research on it in our country is mainly concentrated on rural areas, and a set of more comprehensive analysis and solutions about it has been formed, but the problem about junior middle school students' dropping out in urban districts has seldom been involved. In fact, the problem is still relatively common in many cities. Thus, I investigated 16 junior middle schools in Kun District, Baotou, carried out the research and tried to explore measures of controlling junior middle school students' dropping out of school in our city.The consequences of dropping out of school are multiple. Firstly, it results in serious waste of educational resources; secondly, a series of social problems from it come into being, such as the employment pressure, juvenile delinquency; thirdly, the problem will affect the popularity of compulsory education and the development of fundamental education. Besides, it will sure have many negative influences on the young generation, the improvement of the population quality, economic and social development.According to the survey, the causes of junior middle school students' dropping out of school are mainly family factors, school factors, student factors, social factors and some others. Family factors mainly include the family economic difficulties caused by less family income, more children and emergencies; parents' deviation about educational concept affected by the mind "Study is useless and illiteracy is sound"; and parents' disappointment about going to school due to being unable to arrange jobs for every graduates, which make parents unable or unwilling to send their children to school, resulting in many junior middle school students' dropping out of school (This mainly exits in immigrant families who look for jobs in the city.). Schools factors are mainly involved in many unreasonable minds of managing school, the quality of teachers, the setting of curricula, teaching methods, the education and evaluation system, etc.. Schools are unable to consider truly for all students and focus on students' overall development. Also, individual teachers have lower quality so that this damages seriously some students' dignity, which results in some students' hating school and dropping out of school. As to student factors, some students have poor elementary knowledge, and there are too many courses that are difficult for them, so that some students fail in schoolwork and then drop out of school. There are also some other students who lack lofty ideals and are confused about the future so that their spare life deviates from the right paths and their motivation of learning is ambiguous, blind and short-term. They can't realize the importance of cultural and scientific knowledge in addition to some subjective and objective variables which cannot play a correct guiding role. There are still some students who are affected by other drop-out students and ultimately embark on a drop-out road. Social factors include "useless study" ideas which has regained in recent years and the weak intensity of governing educational system according to law. Moreover, there are some shortcomings in the system of enrollig senior school students which make even worse the problem of junior middle school students' dropping out of school.It is clear that junior middle school students drop out of school due to versatile factors. Therefore, in order to solve the problem, we should conduct comprehensive management in different ways, such as, to strengthen efforts to publicize so that parents establish a correct concept of education, to develop the economy and improve people's living standards and quality. Furthermore, the state and education administration departments should govern education according to law, supervise and inspect in accordance with the law, increase the intensity of law enforcement to control students' dropping out of school, pay attention to the balanced development of education. Besides, schools should strengthen internal management, and try to improve teachers' quality and the quality of teaching, and reform evaluation system. And students themselves should foster high ideals, correct the concept of learning, develop a wide range of interests and hobbies and establish good relations with teachers and classmates etc.Students' drop-out problem of junior middle school in Kun District in our city should cause highly attention among the relevant departments and persons from all circles. We should also start from the overall situation, make concerted efforts and active participation, promote and push on with the development of fundamental education in our city. We are supposed to make our own contribution to constructing a well-off society comprehensively. |
