China's private colleges are undergoing a change in their development from the expansion of the scale to the promotion of teaching quality since 1990s. An outstanding bottleneck stands out-lack of experienced teachers in the course of this change. It goes without saying that teachers play an important role in colleges and universities. Full-time teachers are the backbone of private universities. This paper studies the full-time teachers in private colleges to explore factors which affect their enthusiasm for work, and then build a suitable motivation mechanism, which has a certain practical significance.First of all, the thesis illuminates the research background, aim, significance, ideas and methods, makes a literature review about the previous researches and defines the relevant concepts. Secondly, the thesis employs empirical research methods to analyze the current situation of motivation mechanism in Xi'an M University. The study conducts a questionnaire survey and interviews on full-time teachers, in this way, first-hand data are collected and analyzed by SPSS. The research explores the situation about the teachers'satisfaction and factors which affect the enthusiasm for work, and then finds out the existing problems in full-time teachers'motivation mechanism of Xi'an M University. Thirdly, the study introduces the rationale of building motivation mechanism for full-time teachers in private colleges and explains it should follow the principles of differences, fairness and reasonableness, comprehensiveness and stability.Finally, based on the analysis of motivation factors of full-time teachers in Xi'an M University, the study builds a motivation mechanism model of full-time teachers in private colleges. The model includes systems of needs analysis, motivation measures, implementation, assessment, evaluation and feedback.
