In the Standard of Mathematics Curriculum of Senior High School, published in April 2003, mathematical modeling is adopted into the mathematics curriculum of senior high school. Mathematical modeling should be programmed once at the least, to improve students' practical ability. It is for the first time that the mathematical modeling has become a part of the high school mathematics curriculum in our country. How to teach it is an important task facing the mathematics teachers in senior middle schools. This thesis makes an empirical study on the choice and presentation about understanding and suggestion of mathematical modeling.It is revealed that most teachers haven't taught mathematical model, but they are willing to teach them in the future. Most of them agree that teaching of mathematicalmodeling can promote students' practical ability and understanding of mathematics.The theory of mathematics pattern involves the modeling of knowledge and methods. Mathematical modeling solves problems by mathematical model, and it is abstract of mathematical model, which can solve more problems, so the emphasis of mathematical modeling should be the construction of pattern. When we appraise mathematical modeling, we should pay attention to the innovation, truth, reasonableness and validity of it. These involve the modeling of knowledge and methods. So mathematics pattern can be the theoretical foundation of teaching design.This thesis selects number sequence and linear programming in high school mathematics. One of them was practiced in the classroom. A questionnaire survey after the practice indicated the teaching design can be in keeping with students' level.Finally, we considered mathematical model should be thought of as "found model, induce means, abstract pattern", or "found model, form pattern". Some suggestions were given about the instruction of the mathematical modeling.
