Nonverbal communication is an activity of communicating thoughts each other by nonverbal communication ways, and it is a necessary part in human communication. Researchers around the world have already studied on nonverbal communication. But they cared more about nonverbal communication and foreign language teaching, cultural differences in nonverbal communication and nonverbal communication of teacher than nonverbal communication of English teacher. Especially there is little study on nonverbal communication of junior English class teaching. This paper selects English teachers in junior middle school of Ruijin as researching objects, observed and analyzed their nonverbal communication used in class teaching, the main points as follows:Firstly, based on the relative academic literatures, the writer has summed up the background, the present status and academic foundation of nonverbal communication. Inquired into academic and practical significances of studying on nonverbal communication. Given an outline of characteristics, functions, and types of nonverbal communication. It comes to a conclusion that there are four kinds of nonverbal communication used in junior English class teaching. They are time and space language, body language, vice body language and vice language.Secondly, the writer has summarized the main problems of nonverbal communication used in junior English teaching by analyzing class observation, interview and questionnaire survey. The problems as following: the facial expression of junior English teacher is too strict to smile; the vision range of junior English teacher is so narrow that the eye contact is not enough between teacher and student; junior English teacher has too many meaningless gestures, and ignores to introduce the gestures used in English spoken country; the dressing of junior English teacher is unsuitable; junior English teacher makes use of student thinking time randomly, because the teacher lacks the concept of personal time; junior English teacher loves platform and keeps distant from student; junior English teacher using intonation is not flexible enough.Thirdly, according to the relative academic literatures and the present problems, the writer has posed four basic principles of nonverbal communication witch are used in junior English class teaching. They are combining the nonverbal communication with the verbal communication principle; simplifying principle; being beautiful principle and respecting principle. In order to benefit the junior English teaching, the writer has also raised some detailed tactics of nonverbal communication used in junior English class teaching. They are the teacher making full use of smiling and a pair of bright eyes to teach; introducing the gestures used in English spoken countries and applying gestures naturally; dressing fitting teacher occupation; improving teacher time accomplishment and using classroom space reasonably; strengthening junior English teacher to learn intonation and utilizing them flexibly.
