This thesis attempts to explore the origin and development of the relations between Chinese and history, in order to examine and use a great deal of Chinese knowledge in history teaching. The integration of Chinese into history can promote communication between teachers and students, and it can also help students understand history and social development. As a result, it will advance the all-round development of their arts accomplishment, and make them pay more attention to the integration of basic knowledge and to the abilities of analyzing and solving problems through comprehensive subject knowledge. Thus students will more easily adapt themselves to the social development in the future.In view of the current situation of history teaching in middle schools, the thesis probes into the theoretic foundation, possibility, and strategies of integrating history teaching and Chinese knowledge, and into evaluation and reflection of this integration. Bringing Chinese knowledge into history teaching can motivate students to stretch their historical imagination, deepen their historical understanding and cultivate their historical ideation. Thus, it would improve their aesthetic abilities and sentiments. Moreover, the integration of Chinese knowledge and history teaching will develop students' reading and understanding abilities, and the ability in obtaining and dealing with data. Instead of rote memory, learning history relies on reflection and perceptive to history. Chinese knowledge is a proper carrier for proceeding from perceptual knowledge to rational knowledge. Putting Chinese knowledge into history teaching is due to the close relations between history and literature, the requirements of the quality education and the new curriculum standards, and the needs of training talented citizens for society. However, this integration should use appropriate strategies and change according to the demand of times. Whatever guiding, reappearing and deepening strategies are applied, they should promote to achieve the teaching purposes, help students master important knowledge, and thus develop their comprehensive abilities and subject qualities.The thesis links Chinese literature into history of Shanghai's primary and middle schools and tries to make them improve each other. This combination focuses on modern education and historical research, which is a new field to many researchers. As a new research topic, it is simply in the primary stage for its both practice and theory. Innovation is endless, so we should continue to explore in the new teaching research. Since I have been history teacher for a long time, I can learn about latest information about educational reform, so that I can immediately and accordingly adjust my teaching strategies, and understanding the new trend of integration of Chinese knowledge and history to put the new ideas into history teaching. Therefore, I can observe and reflect the result, and improve the efficiency.
