The Analysis Of Current Situations Of Outward-bound Training In Colleges In Jinan And The Corresponding Countermeasures

The Outward-bound training, originating from World Warâ…¡, spread into China in 1995 after developing for more than half a century. The past 14 years has seen its rapid development in China. As a kind of novel quality-oriented education activity, the outward-bound training has been successfully and widely applied into social enterprise contract, establishment activities, MBA education, quality-oriented education activities in primary and secondary schools and so on. A variety of outward-bound training activities have been held in hundreds of colleges and universities in China higher education. It is a historic trend that the outward-bound training will gradually enjoy its popularity in colleges.Some colleges and universities have introduced the outward-bound training in succession since 2005. Many schools have staged various outward-training activities. Apart from that, some projects, such as Rock climbing, Orienteering, Wilderness survival have been set as optional courses. But the process of introducing the outward-bounding training into colleges in Jinan is not easy, with many hindrances blocking. In order to promote the training in Jinan, the essay, after analyzing and processing the corresponding data which is collected by referring to books, visiting, questioning and counting, draws conclusions as follows:1 Lack of training fields hinders the development of outward-bound training in colleges in Jinan. Among more than sixty colleges in Jinan, few of them are equipped with larger training fields, except Shandong Jianzhu University and Shangdong Yingcai University2 Lack of qualified instructors hinders the development of outward-bound training in colleges. There are only three teachers possessing outward-bound instructors'certificates, two possessing orienteering coach certificates and two possessing rock climbing coach certificates among all the teachers of more than sixty colleges in Jinan.3 Lack of capital hinders the development of outward-bound training in colleges. As Changqing University Town and Zhangqiu University Town are being constructed, most of the colleges in Jinan are under too much loan pressure. Few of them have sufficient financial resources to meet the requirements of outward-bound training fields, equipment and outfits.4 Lack of safety hinders the development of outward-bound training in colleges. It is true that outward-bound training is very exciting and charming, but the potential safety hazards in some projects which should be trained in high place, under water and outdoor can not be neglected. The past 14 years has seen many accidents since the outward-bound training was introduced into China. So safety factor becomes the biggest concern of college administrators in Jinan.5 Lack of discipline hinders the development of outward-bound training in colleges. Unhealthy campus culture, such as being late, truancy and poor lax attitude prevails in some colleges now, which adds difficulty to the development of outward-bound training.The following countermeasures and suggestions are put forward according to the problems reflected by the research result.1 It's suggested that college administrators, teachers and students in Jinan should actively participate in the outward-bound training and deepen their understanding of it.2 It's suggested that colleges in Changqing university town and Zhangqiu university town should fully take advantage of the surrounding mountains, fields, lakes and other natural resources to develop the outward-bound training.3 It's suggested that colleges in Jinan should make full use of the superiority in disciplines and talents, pay attention to cultivating and continually expanding the number of the outward-bound training teachers in order to provide good conditions for the outward-bound training.4 It's suggested that social capital should be timely and properly absorbed to sponsor higher education and quicken the pace of introducing outward-bound training into colleges of Jinan. In this way, outward-bound training can play it's significant role in the field of college students' quality-oriented education soon. It's also suggested to fully exert the economic value of outward-bound training to serve society and make profits, thus making its long-term benign operation in colleges.5 It's suggested that when introducing outward-bound training, colleges should establish an expert group and supervise the process strictly to ensure the standard and authenticity. Then in the process of implementing, colleges should eliminate the potential safety hazard at the very beginning from five aspects.6 It's suggested that relevant state departments should enact related regulations and laws as soon as possible, strengthen the system of auditing out-ward training organizations strictly, make the safety certification of base construction and the application of the field and equipment. Besides, they should reexamine regularly and audit annually so as to avoid the inferior copy of out-ward training from the origin and ensure the long-term safety of out-ward training activities.
