By the methods of literature review, questionaire and mathematical statistic, this paper is a reserch on the current situation, characteristics and potential problems of physical exercise and health condition of junior middle school teachers in Xinxiang District of Henan Province. As a general and veracious reflection of the teachers' health condition and physical exercise situation, this paper analyzes the correlative factors that affect their health and exercise. Some pertinent, feasible and operable suggestions are given to the school leadership and education administration, hoping that it can work as a reference when the regulations and rules are made. Being a useful material for schools of other districts in the promoting of health and physical education, it is also advisable for local middle school education, continuable development of economy and local education development.The result of this survey reveals that:(1) The health condition of junior middle school teachers in this area is worrisome—with half of the teachers above the age of 41 suffering from chronic deseases, and most of the teachers below 40 are subhealthy with a steady annual growth. Work pressure, lack of physical exercise and family responsibility have became the three major factors. Teachers in cities have more work pressure and psychological load than teachers in rural areas, while pressure from family is relatively lower. (2)Teachers in this area hold an supportive attitude toward physical exercise and the improving of health condition, however lack of enthusiasm to practice. The frequency of their taking exercise per week is rare, the time and intensity are also not aggreeable. Only have a superficial understanding of physical knowledge and physical skills, not to mention spend money on that. (3) Physical exercise programs for junior middle school teachers in this area are mainly promenade, dash, pingping and badminton, rope skipping, basketball and football, physical exercising through machines, shadowboxing and qigong. The places for exercising are rather limited, most are on the roadside, in the street or on the farm fields. The time for exercising is also flexible. (4) Junior school teachers here overally have a regular resting time of 8 hours per day in good quality. They have good living habbit, seldom smoking and drinking, with most of their spare times spent on family chores. (5) Generally speaking, junior middle school teachers here have a modrate workload. However, teachers in cities obviously work more excessively than teachers in rural areas. The main reason lies in the number of students.All in all, the main reasons that lead the junior middle school teachers in Xinxiang District of Henan Province poor in health are:(1) heavy work pressure, frequent teaching appraisement and assessment; (2) heavy family load and little spare time; (3) low financial income, inadequate knowledge of body-building and passive attitude toward physical exercising.
