Student-teacher interaction is a crucial behavior in school teaching. Specifically, conversations and communications in the classroom can't exist without the interaction between teachers and students. It was pointed out in "Basic Education Curriculum Reform Compendium" (2001st edition) that teachers should communicate with students positively to achieve a common development. It was observed that most teachers have the consciousness of interaction which was also considered as an evaluation of school teaching.America is the only super country, its technology is in the first place of the world, its higher education is flourishing and supplied lots of talents to the society and pushing the technology growing quickly. However, the primary education in America, which is focusing on the subjectivity, paying attention to the personality and creativity of students, the students in America are far behind the students in China in almost every international competition. This is hard for us to combine their "developing" primary education to their "developed" higher education. How is student-teacher interaction in primary school in U.S and what's the difference between China and America? With these above questions, I conducted a comparison study of student-teacher interactions in elementary school between China and America. Differences of student-teacher interactions between China and America were found through the study of primary school in China and America. According to these teaching, historical and cultural differences, building a novel teacher-student relationship based on China national conditions and strength will ultimately benefit our society.This paper consists four parts.1) Preface. Expatiate on the reason of choosing this topic and meaning of this research. By referring domestic and foreign literatures, an order and review of research results was elaborately drawn. The writer also analyses the purpose, significance, mentality and method of this research.2) Connotations and characters of student-teacher interaction. This part is the frame of the whole theory study. The writer expatiates on the connotations and characters of student-teacher interaction by defining the related conceptions.3) Comparison study of student-teacher interactions in primary school between China and America. This is the pivot of this thesis. By describing different student-teacher interactions under different cultures, analyzing actual observed cases involved in Beijing attached primary school in Chongqing and Countryside school of Illinois at Champaign in America, a comparison study was made from several aspects, such as classroom presentation, questioning, discussion, and experience of audience.4) The inspiration for our primary education by comparison of student-teacher interaction between China and America. It reveals difficulties and essentials of this thesis. To improve the student-teacher interaction and primary education of our country, a strategy was made after the comparison study.
