Even as the quality education has been proceeding stumblingly and the free compulsory education has been flourishing, the problem of underachievers within the elementary school students is still a longstanding problem that upsets people who pay attention and care for education. As the foundation of republic education, elementary education is the beginning and crucial time of development and improvement for students'perception, attention, memorization, imagination, thought, emotion, will, and so on. Therefore, the period of elementary school inevitably becomes the origin of the "underachievers-problem". The head of class, as the staff who have the most contact with students and take the most direct responsibilities, speak volumes for its important status for the transformation of "underachievers". Based on the dependence and trust elementary students feel on their head of the class, it even stands out the important status of the head of class for the transformation of "underachievers". This study is aiming for this consideration, hoping to explore and analyze through the causes of "underachievers in the period of elementary education in order to find the problems behind it, and putting forward recommendations of optimizing teachers'strategies for transformation of underachievers so that it provides certain theoretical advices for elementary school head of class and others who care for the problem of underachievers transformation, and it further helps those who have no problem with intelligence nor having bad morals but with other problematic areas that impact the overall performance in learning motivation, attitude, objective, method, habits, and other things resulting in having problems with learning, grades not meeting the standards, mentality development falling behind average students.Mr. Xingzhi Tao has said there is Watt under your ferula, there is Newton in your scolding eyes, and there is Edison in your fleer. Likewise, elementary school students, who have not yet matured but with strong plasticity, either could move forwards by pushing them or move backwards by relaxing them. Also, because the complexity and variety of their behaviors each underachiever might present, transformation of underachievers has obviously become the big, traditional, and difficult problem. Therefore, if the transformation of underachievers is not executed in time or not successfully by teachers, then the random development of underachievers will latterly influence their performance in secondary school, eventually resulting in the negative impact on underachievers themselves, their family, and whole society.This paper is focusing on arisen problems of underachievers within elementary school students, and aiming at their personal causes and thoughts on how to resolve this tough problem. Other than the preface, the full-text is composed of three parts:The preface discusses the relevant aspects of this study, including the significance of this study, the object of this study, the content and the purpose, the reason of choosing the topic, and so on. Then, it summarizes the current foreign studies on the same issue, and addresses the key points, difficult points, and innovation of this study. Finally, it describes the research method.The first part of the main text is organizing and identifying "underachievers", its relevant concepts, and "head of the class in the elementary school"The second part is to analyze the causes of "underachievers", including four areas in self factors, family factors, school factors, and social factors, respectively, and emphasize to analyze the impact on underachievers caused by self factors, supplemented by cases and their analysis and explanation, which mainly relates to physiological characteristics, cognition, personality (personality tendency, individual psychological characteristics, self-awareness), and other learning methods, study habits, morals, etc.The third part is to provide strategies and advices for the work of the head of class to transform underachievers. Under the premise of complying with the principles of relevant education and transformation in aspects of respect, equality, fairness, motivation, practice, perseverance, and individualization, transforming underachievers by the head of class needs establish proper objectives, inspire their driving force for learning, cultivate their interest in learning, respect and care for them, actively involve in them, and so on.
