In high school English teaching, most students don't want to open their mouths to speak and they are forced to accept what the teachers say. My thesis focuses on this problem and try to find an effective way of English teaching. I think Text-Based Drama Teaching is a good choice, which is aimed to improve the students' English competence. If we can use it properly, this teaching activity can improve the class efficiency.My thesis includes 7 parts. The first part mainly introduces the background of the development of Text-based drama and the significance of the research. The second part introduces some teaching methods related to Text-based drama. The third part focuses on the relationship between drama program and class- teaching. That is Text -based drama indicates the student-centered notion and it can arouse students' interests, stimulate their creativity and help students gain the practice of emotion. The fourth part focuses on drama teaching helping students' developments. It can enhance students' confidence and stimulate their co-operation. The fifth part indicates that drama teaching can stimulate teachers' development. That is it can help teachers renovate their concept of education and find the happiness of teaching. The sixth part mainly talks about drama teaching helping the construction of curriculum. Text-based Drama can be a part of school curriculum, which can help the development of teachers and enrich the life of school. The last part summarizes the practice program of Text -based drama, which presents some disadvantages in teaching and related solutions.According to the Drama Teaching Program, we find that it is a good way to change the traditional English teaching. It can arouse students' interests and enthusiasm, stimulate their creativity and imagination and help them to be the real center of the class. Though it has some disadvantages, we can also get a better class -teaching effects if we use it properly.
