In the society filled with information,we will meet huge amounts of information and data radom influenced which we should analyze, deal with and then make decisions. As a result, many countries set statistics and probability as required course.Over the past 20 years, our country has made great efforts in content and in the aspects of the writing of teaching materials. We have acquired some beneficial experience and ideas that fit in with our nation's condition. But compared with America's lively and funny statistics and probability textbook, there is great difference. It is urgent that we adopt and learn from the teaching experience in statistics and probability from America and other developed countries, so we can perfect and develop our statistics and probability education in elementary and junior school.By the way of comparing Mathsmatics Standard of America issued in 2000 and China's Mathsmatics standard of full-time compulsory education(test) which is issued in July 2001,also comparing statistics and probability contents in Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 which is published by McGrw-Hill Companies.Inc with that in Shanghai, I have got some summaries including advantages and characteristics of America's curriculum standard and textbook, defects of China's statistics and probability contents, the factors which influence our statistics and probability teaching materials and how to improve it. I expect it will provide some valuable suggestion and material to improve statistics and probability contents in curriculum reform in the near future.
