The social adaptability of college students is the ability of college students who can respond positively to social needs, developing tendency and future trend, change their attributes and functions in time, adapt initiatively to the changes of overall social environment, and adapt gradually to the social changes in thought and competence. The social adaptability of college students can be analyzed at two levels: one is the psychological sense, emphasizing the cooperation between the individual and the environment; the other is sociological significance, highlighting the integration of the individual value and the social value. At present, our society is accelerating the transition to socialist modernization, and economy, politics, culture and people's thoughts in our society are violently changing. College students are no longer the"God's favored one", and they are confronting with pressures from various aspects, such as study, employment, and so on. The social adaptability of college students not only affects the study and the life of students at campus, but also relates to the employing options and future social life of students. But there are many barriers to social adaptation of college students. Therefore, there are extensive studies on the social adaptability of college students in domestic academia, mainly focusing on the researching significance of college students'social adaptability, manifestations and causes of deficiency in college students'social adaptability, and how to enhance the social adaptability of college students, etc. Among them, the studies on how to train and enhance the social adaptability of college students still remain at the theoretical level of exploration, but these bold aesthetic of the studies will not help to solve practical problems and, therefore, it is urgent to find out specific working methods in practice. The group work is such a kind of method which can be applied in practice to removes the barriers to college students'social adaptability, and then to improve the social adaptability of college students. Group work, one of the social work methods, improves individual's social life function through group activities and purposive group experience, and thus enhances the individual's social adaptability. Applying the group work method to solve the problem of social adaptability of college students, that is to say, carrying out social adapting group in college students is the development of group work and functional check in practical field. This paper attempts to carry out social adapting group in college students to investigate the deficiency and causes of the social adaptability of senior college student, tries to solve social adaptability deficiency of work object through group designed activities and experiences, and then pursues the purpose of training and enhance social adaptability of college students . The social adapting group of college students belongs to the scope of empirical research, and strives to make group work plans based on the existing research achievements, to carry out group activities of social adaptability, to discuss and analyze the experimental results, and then to find out ways and methods of training and enhancing social adaptability of college students.This paper concerns about how to train and improve college students'social adaptability from the perspective of Educational Sociology. Training and enhancing social adaptability of college students should combine their own characteristics with the times. That is to say, we should focus on the influence and impact brought by the social transition to college students, and we cannot only research the social adaptability of college students without the social transition background. Colleges and classes of the college students are important components of continuously developing society, namely, colleges and classes should not be closed but open. Classes should be a continuous developing social system. Therefore, it is an effective way to train and enhance social adaptability of college students in colleges and classes through appropriate ways which can teach students related social knowledge. This appropriate way is to carry out to group work on the research of social adaptability of college students---social adapting group of college students. It is an empirical research program that applies group work, one of three professional working methods in social work, to the research on social adaptability of college students. We hope that through carrying out college students social adapting group among college students, through proceduralization, operationalization and quantitative analysis methods of group work, through observing, experimenting and investigating the college students in social adapting groups, we can gain related materials, study how to train and enhance social adaptability of college students, analyze and discuss the experimental results, and at last summarize and conclude the working methods of training and enhancing social adaptability of college students. The social adapting group of college students recruited 9 senior college students all from T University college students as working objects. Though from different majors, they all have various deficiencies in social adaptability. The working group totally carried out 6 activities, lasting about a month.It is a bold attempt to apply group work to the research on solving the problems of social adaptability of college students. Practice has proved that the research was a success: the problems of the objects of group work, i.e. the college students with social adaptability deficiency, have been basically solved. They not only clearly realize their current study and life, but also clearly understand the society they will enter soon, learn how to deal with various social problems they will encounter, manage how to conduct self-regulation and catharsis, and improve their self-adaptive capacity of society. Applying group work to social adaptability of college students is not only benefit for college students with social adaptability deficiency, but also challenges the theoretical knowledge of group work training staff, and is a unique practical experience. The group work method, applied in China from western countries, must be integrated and modified according to China's specific conditions. The successful launch of this research is an attempt to the localization of group work theory and practice. Through this research, we not only expand the scope of the group work practice, but also further enrich the research theories of group work. While admitting the feasibility of applying group work to solve social adaptability deficiency of college students, at the same time, we should also see its limitations. There are only 9 working objectives of the work group activities, while the staff and logistical support staff are far more than the number of the objectives, and we spent a greater amount of material and a month's time. These indicate that group work is less efficient and costs higher in addressing barriers to the social adaptability deficiency of college students, so it is not suitable to promote the application in large scale. Thus, group work should be used in combination with other measures, in order to reach the purpose of enhancing social adaptability of college students.
