| To guide students to understand the natural phenomenon rationally, especially, the phenomenon of life, and to cultivate students'scientific literacy is an important task of science education. Therefore, Collection of students'understanding of the phenomenon of life becomes very meaningful. Using concept map as a research tool, this study investigated the life concept from more than 100 students, grade 4 to 10. The main clues to life concept construction, the scope and extent of subjects'understanding of life concept have been studied in this paper. It is indicated that:(1) The concept of life construction process is a two-dimensional structure, in which one dimension is four kinds living creature, including humanity, animal, plants, and microorganism. And the other is varies interesting questions about life, such as the origin of life, the evolution of life, and the life cycle.(2) The subjects'understanding on the various elements of the two-dimensional structure mentioned above was significantly different.(3) The process of life concept construction reflected a number of some other issues, as the difficulties of transfer knowledge between different areas, the poor master of the scientific classification, and the existence of a large number of misconceptions from everyday life. |
