| College students are during the important phase of development in which they can learn much knowledge, know more about the society and get exploration of life. It is also an important transition period during which they achieve socialization, moving towards adults from minors, towards society from school. However, the interpersonal skill of many college students worried us a lot. With so many of them can't quite adapt to interpersonal interaction, we can see adverse events caused by this on the newspaper now and then. Therefore, colleges should pay much attention to the current situation of students'interpersonal skill and the factors that influence it, so as to improve it constantly.Most of the researches before lay particular emphasis on analysis of the current situation or on the solutions of a certain aspect, while there are few solutions put forward from the perspective of colleges and educators. This research aims at describing and analyzing the interpersonal skill of college students, probing into the ways and strategies from the perspective of colleges and educators. Adopting the methods of questionnaire survey, case study and depth interview, with 746 students majoring at art, science, engineering and medicine of Shandong University been investigated and 30 of them been qualitatively researched, it attaches importance with the actual operability of the solutions. Using the tools of the self-edited College Students'Interpersonal Status Questionnaire and Interpersonal Skills Assessment Questionnaire (University of California at Los Angeles), the research made an analysis on the 5 dimensions composed by interpersonal status and skills of college students.The results of the research show that, contemporary college students have urgent needs of communication and desires for communication with opposite sex; The motivation of their communication is both ideal and utilitarian; but they tend to be egocentrism in the interpersonal interaction; there are deviations on the cognition of interaction, and they lack skills of communication and emotional management; the scope of interact is relatively narrow, with a social impediment; Internet and instant message has become the main ways of interaction for college students; communications of emotions and feelings are still the main contents. And the general situation of college students'interpersonal communication is not so good, as the developing of interpersonal skill is still far from satisfactory. Among the 5 interpersonal skill dimensions, including initiative communication, appropriate rejection, self-expression, conflict management, and emotion support, the percentage of average low grade is 31%, which is 16 percent higher than the norm, while the percentage of average high grade is 13%, which is below the norm. Some students have impediments in interpersonal communication.The research analyzes the factors that influence the developing of college students' interpersonal skills from both the aspects of individual and social factors. Based on that, the effective methods and strategies of cultivating college students'interpersonal skills are put forward from the perspective of colleges and educators. The methods and strategies include the following aspects. First, through the construction of campus culture, build a harmonious environment of interpersonal communication; Second, perfecting the working mechanism of students to improve their interpersonal skills in the daily work; Third, making scientific and reasonable curriculum system to teach college students the related knowledge of interpersonal skills; Fourth, organizing and designing colorful activities to cultivate their interpersonal skills; Fifth, developing extensive social practice to further improve college students'social communication skills; Sixth, through the way of individual guidance, aiming at particular individuals, to improve and enhance the interpersonal skills of college students. |
