Junior middle school teachers are the main force of China's basic education, they bear the heavy responsibility of basic education. it has become an important theme for us to concern about the career of junior middle school teachers in rural area.In this paper, the study on the career of junior middle school teachers in rural area focuses on two aspects and four dimensions. On one hand, it emphasizes on teachers' professional development and working qualities in the perspective of the nature of teachers in rural area. On the other hand, it tries to explore the working pressure and personal needs. As far as the research methods are concerned, the author adopts the self-made questionnaires to investigate the teachers in seven junior middle schools in needy rural area in Qiyang County. Meanwhile, the author makes use of SPSS 13.0 Software Package to deal with the collected datas. The findings include following parts:First, in general, the professional development in the career of teachers in junior middle schools in needy rural area is at the middle level. It remains to be further improved. Among the professional development elements, the professional attitude is acceptable, followed by professional skills, professional knowledge and professional progress.Second, the professional quality (working quality) in the career of teachers in junior middle schools in needy rural area is at a low level. The working environment and job characteristics are at the middle level, the organizational climate, job training, working conditions and job quality are all at a lower level as well. What's more, they are in a decreasing order.Third, the teachers in junior middle schools in needy rural area have a larger prevalence of occupational stress. It is embodied in the wages, welfare, career prospects, working load, student factors, performance evaluation and interpersonal relations. They keep a decreasing order.Fourth, the teachers in junior middle schools in rural area usually have an intense vocational demands, among which the physiological needs are the greatest, followed by love and belongingness needs, security needs, respectively, self-esteem needs, seek knowledge and needs and self-actualization needs, which is the same as Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory.Fifth, the demography effects on the career status of the junior middle school teachers to some extent.For the career status of the junior middle school teachers, the author wants to put forward the corresponding countermeasures according to the social support :create a favourable environment; the school management:promote the development of career and value of theirselves:create the happiness of career.
