College entrance examination system is a basic education system in China which attracts a major social concern. College entrance examination reform is a hot and difficult problem of educational reform.In the period of mass higher education,higher education shows diversities of contents,training objectives and students'personalities.Our current college entrance examination model begins to not meet requirements of the mass education, so the college entrance examination reform is imperative.Australia has completed the mass education in the early 1990s, so their practical experiences and reform measures will give us reference and inspiration and is of important reference value.In this thesis, I mainly use comparative method to contrast the college entrance examination between China and Australia from a comparative point and stress the differences and similarities of two systems. On this basis, I analyze the reasons of differences and propose suggestions to perfect our college entrance examination system.This paper is divided into four parts.The first part is to discuss establishment, development, evolution and innovation of the college entrance examination in China and Australia respectively, so as to understand the history origin of college entrance examination system and has a comprehensive and profound understanding of a country's college entrance examination system.The second part is to compare NSW Higher School Certificate Examination which has the most outstanding education in Australia with college entrance examination from four aspects which are admission criteria,implementation manner, assessment method and subject set.So that we can find differences and similarities and common law of the two different systems.The third part is to analyze the causes of differences between two college entrance examination systems and indicate that a national college entrance examination is subjected to history, politics, culture and other factors. The fourth part is to further probe the development and reform of Australian college entrance examination, which can give us inspiration and reference. I finally summarize experiences and lessons of two college entrance examination reform and propose reform measures and the corresponding preliminary ideas combining with Chinese actual situation.Major reform measures have the following four points:1.Value Orientation:Implement"people-oriented"concept of Scientific Concept of Development comprehensively; 2.College Entrance Examination System:Combine College Entrance Examination with Higher School Certificate Examination;3. Admission Criteria:Add quality assessment to college entrance examination mark;4.College Entrance Examination Institution:Establish an independent and special college entrance examination institution.College entrance examination reform is a gradual process, we must base on the actual situation of China.The study of this thesis aims to make a more comprehensive and scientific discussion and evaluation through contrast.On this basis, I analyze our own problems and refer to Australian experiences so as to raise useful recommendations for reform and development of our country's college entrance examination.
