Taiwan and the Mainland stepped on the same uniform examination system way in 1950's, still exist that the authority in Taiwan has being kept improving the system since last century. In 2002, the implementation of the multiple college entrance examination system in Taiwan announced the end of half century's reign of uniform exam system. It means that Taiwan has stepped into the multiple college admissions times. Students there can be recruited by two ways in the new system: selection and another exam such as the uniform exam. And a two-phase exam would be imposed: subject ability exam and appointed item or subject exam. The policy-making and reform practice are influenced by many factors, such as politics, society, and cultural education and the inevitable reason of seedtime about the College Entrance Examination System. People have different comments on the effects of this system. However, with the development of higher education and the mode of reforming of the college entrance examination system of other countries, the multiple college entrance examination system in Taiwan goes with the stream. It fits the principle of multiple selecting person with ability, gives the university and students decision-making power to meet the needs of the developing students, the specific demand of colleges and universities and the teaching reform of senior high schools.Untill 2007, college entrance examination in mainland has been carried out for 30 years. During the 30 years, we continue to use the unified examination system. However, under the traditional unique standard, examination decides one's life, the universities are lack of decision-making power and students are weighed down by the heavy lesson pressure. Naturally it brings about serious problems to our education. Since 1999, the college entrance examination has gone through many reformations in the contents and form of examination, but that cannot solve the substantial problems. Guided by documents analysis, historical analysis, comparative analysis and interview analysis, this thesis chooses multiple college entrance examination system in Taiwan as the object of research in hope of making an objective and comprehensive research on multiple college entrance examination system in Taiwan. Based on this analysis, the author tries to explore its problems, adopt its advantages, draw some lessons and finally proposes its inspirations.The thesis mainly discusses five sections as following:Sectionâ… is the preface. The author first presents us the origin and meaning of the study. After interviewing the related research done by Taiwan and the Mainland schoolars, the author then proposes some conceptions concerned with this article and at the same time, the frame of the thesis.Sectionâ…¡mainly analyses the background of reforming the multiple college entrance examination system in Taiwan. Admission systems of the joint college entrance examination have gone through four stages. From the foundation to the new joint college entrance examination to the college multiple entrance, each stage set up different era's characteristics. Then the author discusses the reformation reasons from five aspects, such as the education reformation, the malpractice of the joint college entrance examination itself and so on.Sectionâ…¢introduces the specific content, measure, distinguishing feature and the aim of the multiple college entrance examination system in Taiwan , then analyses its three basic theory and dissertates the influencing factors.Sectionâ…£carries on the inspection and the evaluation on the present state of multiple college entrance examination system in Taiwan. The inspection part unified the Taiwan scholar's correlation research conclusion as well as some experiences and interview records from Taiwan which were got by author. Finally the impact and influence which brings from this system itself are discussed.Sectionâ…¤is reference and inspiration. This part interviews the reforming of the college entrance examination in the Mainland, and focuses on the present state of new around reformation since 1999. At last, the author expresses her own advices on the reformation, in order to offer some useful experiences and some suggestions for us: (1) Adhere to the unified examinations of the college entrance examination and enlarge the college admission. (2) Establish a professional test institution and separate the entrance exam from the enrollment system. (3) The examination contents should be transformed from knowledge conception into capability conception and the test subject design should be elastic. (4) Make the test form from unification to manifold. (5) Increase the test and gives candidates more choices. (6) Enlarge the college enrollment right and establish the characteristics of universities. (7) Establish a multiple evaluation system and develop student's multiple intelligence. (8) Help student make a personal lifelong plan. (9) Publicize the college entrance examination reformation program.
