Ernest Boyer is a great American educator in the last century. He re-defined the connotation of scholarship and creatively put forward"the scholarship of teaching"in order to deal with the tendency that the American university focused more attention on scientific research rather than teaching and university academic utilitarian. The scholarship of teaching refers to the teachers systematically study the problems during teaching practice based on the discipline of epistemology, make the findings open to communicate with their peers,receive peers'review and allow them to build on this basis.The core of the thought is that teaching is scholarship. University teaching embodies the basic characteristics of the academic activities, taking on the characteristics of research, creativity and communication. Boyer constructed four aspects of academic evaluation principles,including the quality of academics, standards of academic work, academic certificates and the reliability, for the evaluation of the scholarship of teaching─a new academic paradigm.Among them, standards of academic work include knowledge, clear goals, appropriate methods and procedures, creative use of resources, effective communication, and important results. Beacause of the tendency that focusing more attention on scientific research rather than teaching and academic utilitarian exists in the field of our higher education, attaching importance to Boy's thought of the scholarship of teaching will provide strong vitality theory and practice support for China's higher education.In this paper, we systematically interpret Boy's thought of the scholarship of teaching and select two representative undergraduate universities—Henan University and Zhengzhou University. Through literature analysis, questionnaires, personal interviews, etc., a combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis of approach is used to analyze the status quo of China's university teaching and academic development.On this basis we discuss the relevance of Boy's thought of the scholarship of teaching that been used in the field of China's higher education ,and try to put forward the paths that the thought been used in the academic field of our higher education from the practical level.This paper is divided into six parts.The first part:Introduction.It begins with explaining the topic, pointing out research significance and the related research results of the thought, presenting research ideas and methods, innovations and deficiencies. The second part: Systematic interpretation of Boy's thought of the scholarship of teaching.It introduces Boyer's life,academic course and the background that scholarship of teaching brought out, and finally interprets the connotation of the thought. The third part: The investigation and analysis of university"teaching"and"academic"status of our country. In order to fully understand the teaching and academic of university teachers and students, grasp the status of university teaching and academic development, we conducted a survey and individual interviews on some teachers and students in Henan University and Zhengzhou University. The fourth part: It explains the relevance of Boy's thought of the scholarship of teaching that been used in the field of China's higher education from"teaching"and"academic"the two dimensions.
