With the world’s multi-polarization and the in-depth development of economicglobalization, how to improve the quality of higher education in the process of highereducation popularization and constantly is going to be an urgent realistic problem. Asis known to us all, the essential factor of the higher education’s quality depends on thequality of university teachers, and university teachers’ professional development is thecore and fundamental measures to enhance the quality of university teachers. Thestudy has important theoretical value and practical significance, especially in therealities of facing the international situation and promoting the popularization ofhigher education deeply in China.Multiple-Scholarship expands the idea of academic in four dimensions. Itpromoted a series of related reforms in the field of higher education in the UnitedStates, and it had a significant impact worldwide on the philosophy and practice of theprofessional development of university teachers as well.Based on referring to the existing theoretical research fruits of teachers’professional development, combined the theory of Multiple-scholarship with exploredthe inspiration which it gave to the Chinese college teachers’ professionaldevelopment, this study tried to put forward a theoretical for multiple-scholarship tobuild the university teachers’ professional development framework with Chinesecharacteristics.The dissertation divided into four parts.Part one—introduction. It mainly introduces the reason, literature review, basicconcepts, ideas and methods of the study, innovation.Part two—the historical evolution of the university faculties’ professionaldevelopment and the theoretical summarizing. It was mainly described from threeaspects: the development process of the career of teacher, the evolution course of theteachers’ professional and theories related to the faculties’ professionaldevelopment. Part three—multiple-scholarship: a new perspective of faculties’ professionaldevelopment. Firstly, it introduced the background which the multiple-scholarshipappeared on, and the basic connotation of it. Then, it stated the significance of themultiple-scholarship giving to the faculties’ professional development.Part four—faculties’ professional development practice in the view ofmultiple-scholarship. Based on analyzing the problem and factor affected domesticfaculties’ professional development, this study put forward the system of faculties’professional development based upon the multiple-scholarship.The standpoint and focus of this paper are all on college teachers’ professionaldevelopment, its main innovation is the introduction of Multi-dimensional academicconcept which originated in the United States and for the guidance of universityteachers’ professional development practice. By reviewing teachers’ professionaldevelopment and evolution theories of history and combing university teachers’professional development,taking in-depth analysis of the factors that affect theprofessional development of university teachers, and combined with the currenthigher education practical, put forward reform proposals based on "multi-dimensionalview" of academic combine aspects of the guiding philosophy and system security.
