With the constant development of Elementary Curriculum Reform, more and more primary schools in rural area began to take English classes, which promotes English teaching in high schools and help pupils cultivate the interests and awareness of English, open their minds, develop their talents and improve their cultural ability. Due to various reasons, presently the quality of primary school English teaching is far from satisfaction. More, the problems of the transition from Primary school to Junior High School becomes various, which mainly shows on the phenomenon that the transition from primary school to junior high school fails to transist steadily and smoothly, moreover, the are more disjusted aspects exsiting in this transition ,which becomes unnecessary waste. Quite a few of students in the first year of junior high school have difficulties adapting the new learning conditions and therefore, they seems lacks the interests of learning,which leads to their achievements dropping abviously. It's said that some of them are afraid of learning English.The courses of English in primary school and junior high school belong to not only Elementary Education but also two different stages of instruction. English in primary schools is the basis of English in high schools, while the latter is the development of the former. The two stages are connected and become independently as well. Nowadays this phenomenon seems more and more outstanding under the background of New Curriculum Reform.This thesis is an attempt of investigation on the problem of transition from primary school to junior high school combined the working experiences of author and social background. During the process of research, the author tried to use the way of questionare, class observation and interview of teachers and students to attain the practical problems and analysis the reasons.Apart from the Introduction which is Chapter 1, this thesis contains other three chapters, which are as follows:Chapter two is the some definations of some key words concerned and the overviews of this topic. Firstly, author tries to interpret the contents of key definations such as"Rural area","primary and junior high schools in rural area","transition"and so on. Then author describes the real situation of the transition from primary school to junior high school through some aspects like the existing problems, the factors of influence and the ways of solving problems. Lastly author presents the theory basis of this thesis.Chapter three is the investigation and analysis on present situation of transition from primary school to junior high school in rural areas.Chapter four is the reflection on present situation of transition from primary school to junior high school in rural areas.At the end of this thesis is the conclusion.
