The Study On Counsellors Team Building Of Independent Colleges

The 20th century is period that global education experienced great transformation, especially after 1970's, the impact of information revolution on economic society, as well as the need of society on talents, both demanded logically that education should be improved in the cultivating of talents. Doctor Martin Throw, professor of Graduate school of public policy, university of california-berkeley, a well-known educational sociologist, was just the hero as a product of his time. The theory of Popularization of Higher Education that he brought forward has been, during 30 years of development in China, spread like mushrooms on the land of China in late 20th century. Within a short period of 4 to 5 years, there appeared additional 3 million college students in China. The expansion of higher institutions in the latest 10 years, has also increased the number of many universities and colleges from thousands to tens of thousands.The team building of college counselors, therefore, has been one the most important tasks for the development of Chinese higher institutions. In Oct,2004, the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, and the state council issued the document of< On further strengthening and improving ideological and political education of college students>, which gave guide lines on the team building of college counselors. Based on this document, this paper has put forward some insights into the team building of independent college counselors.The author of this paper has been working in a independent college for nearly two years, also conducted in-depth research and referred to relevant books and materials., and meanwhile, has visited more than 20 independent colleges in Wuhan and collected abundant information in this field. With WHUT Huaxia College as case study, the author analyzed the current satiation of counselors team building, described its features and characteristics such as dumbbell shaped, calabash shaped, and fluidity, so as to find keys to solve the problems exist in team building of independent college counselors. The paper has also introduced some theories such like SWOT analysis in Economy, The White Collar Thoughts, Ripple Effects and Catfish Effects, and designed a set of mechanism including employing, training, profession career planning, performance assessment system, as well as strategic salary system. Through these means, we hope to reach the goal of building a counselors team that characterized of capable thinking, strong working ability, unity and harmony, so as to make them tutors of students ideologically, as well as their sincere friends in casual life.
