The vocabulary teaching at senior high school is the main part in the English teaching, affecting students'ability to use the vocabulary directly and having important significance in the improvement of the ability of vocabulary learning. New English Curriculum Standard has set a new challenge for vocabulary teaching at senior high school, demanding the vocabulary teaching based on the usage of the vocabulary, rather than the definition of vocabulary. Therefore, the paper is on the basis of reading the theory about English lexics, English linguistics, English educational psychology, pedagogy and so on, analyzing the main problems of English vocabulary teaching at senior high school according to the method of questionnaire and interview and bring up the solutions in the end.This paper involves the introduction and four parts, the main contents of every part as follows:The introduction expounds the background of the study, the value of research, the research method and the thread of research.The first part narrates the theory frame of the vocabulary teaching at senior high school from six aspects, including the concept and theoretical base of the vocabulary teaching at senior high school, the aim and the principle of the vocabulary teaching at senior high school, the content and the method of the vocabulary teaching at senior high school.The second part investigates the five aspects, including the basic situation of the vocabulary teaching, the presentation of vocabulary, the content of vocabulary, the method of vocabulary and the assessment of the vocabulary according to the method of questionnaire and interview. The author tries to analyze and find the main problems of the vocabulary teaching at senior high school.The third part is the keystone of the research. The author sums up the main problems of the vocabulary teaching at senior high school and strategies for these main problems.
