In recent years, the test-oriented education has turned into the quality-oriented education with the development of the new curriculum. The teaching methods have been gradually improved as the innovation of education conception develops. And TBLT has been widely used during the application of the new curriculum. Meanwhile,the Low English Proficiency Learners have received more concerns. Therefore, the effectiveness of the application of the Task-Based Language Teaching on the Low English Proficiency learners has been studied in this thesis, and the author hopes to help them and provide valuable references to TBLT users in senior high schools.This thesis combines the theoretical research with the empirical study, using the research tools including the questionnaire, interview and test. In the thesis the performance of the Low English Proficiency learners has been studied, which manifests the effectiveness of the application of TBLT on the Low English Proficiency Learners.The thesis consists of six parts. The first part is introduction, which brings forward the research subject, making it clear the objective of the research. The second part is the literature review of TBLT and the Low English Proficiency Learners. The third part is the research design, in which the author will explain how the three tools are used in the research. The fourth part introduces the whole process of the application of TBLT related to the daily teaching, mainly focusing on the lessons of teaching vocabularies and reading. The fifth part is the statistical analysis, involved in the questionnaires both at the beginning and the end of the research, the interview both with the Low English Proficiency Learners and some of English teachers as well as the analysis of the data based on the test at the beginning and end of the research. The last part is the conclusion. The research shows that TBLT is effective to the majority of the Low English Proficiency learners; however, to a minority of individuals, the effectiveness of TBLT still remains not positive.Due to the limitation of the quantity of samples and the actual condition of the school, there still exist further studies to carry on in the later research.
