Grammar is a very important part in language learning. Traditional grammar teaching method is chiefly based on teachers'grammar analysis, and the students'task is to recite grammar rules and do lots of exercises. Later, it is realized that students have few chances to practice communicating in English in traditional method. Then, communicative method becomes popular in the field of English teaching.In the course of carrying out and perfecting the new curriculum criteria, task-based method is now very popular. Compared with the studying of task-based method in reading, writing, and vocabulary, the study in grammar teaching is relatively fewer, because traditional teaching method has a deep and long-term effect on English teaching. We still need to change our ideas and improve the teaching skills before we successfully use task-based method in grammar teaching. This thesis will point out that there is no absolute teaching method. For such a situation before us, task-based method is believed to be an effective method to improve students'ability to use language, this paper will try to examine the necessity and feasibility of task-based method used in grammar teaching, based on the analysis of the theory of grammar and grammar teaching, task and task-based teaching, and also based on the analysis of questionnaires and interviews and classroom observations.There are altogether five parts in this paper. The first part is introduction, which includes the proposal of the question, the present study of task-based method both home and abroad, the value and method of the research; the second part is about the introduction of the theory of grammar, grammar teaching, task and task-based teaching method; the third part is the design of the research on task-based teaching method used in grammar teaching; the fourth part is the analysis of the research results; and the final part gives several suggestions about task-based grammar teaching method.
