With the continuous advance in the economic globalization, how to improve English education and promote the English level of students in our nation has become the focus of the whole society. The education ministry issued English Curriculum Standards for Nine-Year Compulsory Education in 2003 which clearly advocates Task-based Language Teaching. Focusing on the research of Task-based Language Teaching is the key to facilitate the curriculum reform and promote English teaching quality in senior high schools.For many high school English teachers, there are still some confusions to deal with in the practical application of Task-based Language Teaching in the high school English teaching. And the most important part is task design. If high school teachers can't handle task design properly, it will directly affect the implementation of Task-based Language Teaching. Therefore, what this thesis wants to achieve is to find out the existing problems and offer some suggestions in the task design part.This thesis contains five parts: 1. The first part mainly introduces the relevant theories of Task-based Language Teaching and tasks; 2. The second part summarizes the hopes and reflections of Task-based Language Teaching applied in High School English Teaching and stresses the importance of task design; 3. The third part states the basic principles and factors of Task Design in order to make sure the effectiveness of its implementation; 4. The fourth part describes the specific situation, the problems found and the main causes from the research on Task Design in High School English Teaching; 5. The fifth part gives high school English teachers some reference by the reflections and suggestions on Task Design in High School English Teaching.
